Al Estrella is a Filipino illustrator and grade school teacher at DLSU Integrated School. With
a portfolio spanning over 15 illustrated books, his works have been celebrated both in the
Philippines and internationally, appearing in publications such as The Philippine Daily
Inquirer, Brown University School of Public Health, and Nylon Magazine. He has earned
several prestigious awards, including the Asian Rights Fair (ARF) Distinguished Award for
Best Children’s Illustrated Books (2024), the Severino Reyes Medal for Best Picture Book
(2024), and the Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY) Alcala Grand Prize
(2023). In 2022, he received the Japan Illustrators' Association Award (Bronze) and was also
honored with the National Children’s Book Awards in 2014-2015.
