Karlene is an animation graduate from De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. In 2011, her thesis animation film LuzViMinda was featured locally on Kids Channel as well as internationally at the 16th International Film Festival For Children and Young Audience SCHLINGEL, Germany.
She later worked in various creative industries which gained her experiences in branding, background design (animation studio), multimedia design, as well as marketing. After finishing her Masters degree in Business at AIM, she later became professor of New Media Entrepreneurship at College of Saint Benilde where she taught artists how to balance creativity and business.
In 2025, while balancing her new role as a mom, she illustrated 4 books, the Touch Wellness Series, published by World Scientific Education (Singapore). She is currently a part-time Multimedia artist and teacher at The Meridian International Learning Experience.
